" Having The Gouras Law Firm represent me in my custody case was a life saver. Not my life, but my son's life.  Mark and his firm provided me with the best service, care and understanding, and a vision to help me win my case. Being a male in the State of Washington, you need a person like Mark and his firm to not only balance the playing field, but to help you understand what you can do to help yourself. My son is now with me and is safe. I would recommend  Mark Gouras and the Gouras Law Firm to anyone seeking a well qualified attorney and a proven winner. "

" When I initially contacted The Gouras Law Firm, I was looking for a firm which really respected the Court and was experienced with working with them.  Mark was able to provide the necessary expertise, guidance and delivery of actions to get the parenting plan and divorce to a good and proper conclusion.  I am able to visit with my daughter for a reasonable amount of time and have the ability to parent her without interference.  I am able to exercise my freedom of religion and bring her to my church of choice.  I am deeply thankful for the dedicated and conscientious work of The Gouras Law Firm.

Thank you Mark! "

Virginia Amis

Virginia Amis has been practicing law since 1991, focusing for the past fourteen years on family law.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in English from Central State University and her JD from Oklahoma City University School of Law.

Ms. Amis began her practice in Oklahoma City in commercial litigation.  She changed her focus to family law in 1993 when she became an associate with Kirk & Chaney law firm, where she began representing family law clients whose marital and separate estates often included corporate and trust holdings, family businesses and other substantial assets.  Ms. Amis became the first female partner in the history of Kirk & Chaney.  While she enjoyed her practice in Oklahoma City, Ms. Amis fell in love with the Pacific Northwest.  In 2001, Ms. Amis left Oklahoma City to pursue a family law practice in Washington.  Before joining Gouras & Amis P.L.L.C., she was Of Counsel with Lutz Law Offices in Tacoma and a partner with McKinley Irvin in Seattle.

Ms. Amis has experience representing clients in dissolutions, legal separations, modifications of parenting plans and child support, non-parental custody actions and meretricious relationships.  She has extensive experience in complex property and custody cases. Her training also includes mediation and collaborative law, which she believes suits those clients who desire to resolve their marital issues without extensive litigation.  She practices in King, Pierce, Thurston, Snohomish and Kitsap counties.

Ms. Amis is admitted to the Washington State Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Association.  She is a member of the King County and Pierce County Family Law sections of the Bar and a member of the King County and Pierce County Collaborative Law groups.

Ms. Amis practice includes only family law.

Some client comments about Ms. Amis are as follows:

" Virginia Amis helped me through what was a very difficult time through her best-of-class professionalism and legal approach. She kept the focus on the right issues and was very good about listening to what I wanted and providing a consultative approach as to how to best achieve that. Although I hope to never need her services again, there is no question I would. "

Ms. Gordon was an associate attorney for the Lutz Law Offices, P.S. from 2005 to 2007 where she practiced exclusively in family law.  Ms. Gordon’s current practice with Gouras & Amis P.L.L.C. also emphasizes family law in both contested and collaborative law cases.

Some client comments about Ms. Gordon are as follows:

" I am pleased to recommend attorney Deborah Gordon.   I am a survivor of severe domestic violence, entangled in complicated criminal proceedings as well as divorce.

My initial consultations with Ms. Gordon preceded filing of the criminal complaint.  She has consistently advised and stayed a proactive approach.   Ms. Gordon coordinated her efforts with the Federal Way Police Department as well as the King Co. Prosecutor’s Office, serving as a strong advocate on my behalf.  Despite her subdued presence, she stands firm when faced with intimidation.  "

" Deborah was the perfect choice for what proved to be a very difficult, complicated custody case.  She had to deal with short notice, out-of-state clients, long hours in court, and obscure family law issues.

Through it all, Deborah remained dedicated, honest, and encouraging.  She used her skill and experience in family law to help me through the court process.  Deborah remained open and flexible when unexpected problems came our way.

I owe mine and my son’s happiness to Deborah.  I would trust no one else to handle my legal well-being in the state of Washington.  "
